At our 3rd Wednesday Rotary Club of Horizon West noon meeting on September 21, 2022, Lance Price, Dir of Operations of For the Love of a Veteran, Inc. and his service dog Copper joined us today to share all about how the organization “fights for those who fought for us”.

GUEST SPEAKER - Lance Price, Director of Operations of For the Love of a Veteran, Inc. - Central Florida

Lance Price, Dir of Operations of the Central Florida area of For the Love of a Veteran, Inc. (FTLOAV) shared that once he retired from the military, the big question in front of him was...

Who Am I Now?

This is the question that led Lance to do the work he is now doing for FTLOAV, an organization that began in 2013.

We learned that FTLOAV helps heroes heal through SGB treatment. This treatment has be used for over 100 years for various needs and was discovered to relieve PTSD over 12 years ago. It is not a standalone treatment, but it has been used to treat thousands of patients with 80+% success rate.

In 2022 the Florida Chapter was begun because Florida has the 3rd largest population in the nation with over 1 million wartime veterans.

For the Love of A Veteran, Inc. Florida Chapter mission is to contribute to veterans' purpose and quality of life. By providing funding for SGB treatment for those suffering with PTSD. And they plan to provide activities and programs that advance the well-being of veterans, their families, caregivers, survivors, and other eligible members of the military community.

GOLF TOURNAMENT UPDATE

Stacey Sellaro, provided an update on our inaugural Golf Tournament. Our goal is to raise $43k to cover costs and be able to support the causes our club has adopted such as Apple-a-Day • Maxey Elementary School • Horizon West Cares • Interact Club at HHS & WHS • One Heart for Women & Children.

Donations for the goody bags and silent auction are still needed. We are looking for 150 of each item to add to all of the bags. Silent auction items can be anything that someone would be willing to buy is worth gathering. Bidders have an opportunity to bid and receive the item for a reduced value - anything from a $25 Publix gift card to a vacation getaway and anything in between.

To express interest in helping please email Stacey at: Stacey.Sellaro@Roche.com

We are about halfway to our goal so there is room for more sponsors to get involved before the sponsor registration deadline of October 15th and details can be found at: HorizonWestRotary.com/GolfTournament
